چکیده

We evaluate the risks of cardiovascular disease to the Chinese population by i) detecting ”abnormality” using 3 one-class classification methods (a discriminative one-class support vector machine (SVM), a generative kernel density estimate (KDE), and a discriminative KDE), and ii) predicting probabilities of ”normality”, arrhythmia, and ischemia using 3class classification method (a discriminative SVM). For one-class classification we constructed 5 possible criteria for ”normality” and used 14 automatically extracted ECG features by the Mortara device and blood pressure data. We evaluated classification performance in balanced test sets and the discriminative SVM model achieved area under curve (AUC) 0.79-0.83 and 71.6%-75.6% accuracy, depending on the different criteria for defining ”normality”. The generative KDE achieved 0.72-0.80 AUC, and 74.8% accuracy. For three-class classification we propose a set of inclusion criteria for ”normal”, ”arrhythmia” and ”ischemia”, and added 6 new features (amplitudes of P, Q, R, S, and T waves and STlevel) extracted from time-series ECG. With new features the accuracy improved from 64.6% to 74.5% for 3-class and from 74.5% to 88.7% for classification between normal and ischemia in balanced test sets.

Use of drug treatment for secondary prevention of cardiovascular disease in urban and rural communities of China: China Kadoorie Biobank Study of 0.5 million people☆

AIMS Relatively little is known about the use of medication for the secondary prevention of cardiovascular disease (CVD) events in China, and the relevance to it of socioeconomic, lifestyle and health-related factors. METHODS AND RESULTS We analysed cross-sectional data from the China Kadoorie Biobank (CKB) of 512,891 adults aged 30-79 years recruited from 1737 rural and urban communities in ...

Associations of blood glucose and prevalent diabetes with risk of cardiovascular disease in 500 000 adult Chinese: the China Kadoorie Biobank

AIMS To examine the relationship of self-reported diabetes, and of random blood glucose levels among individuals without known diabetes, with the prevalence of cardiovascular disease in Chinese adults. METHODS We examined cross-sectional data from the China Kadoorie Biobank of 0.5 million people aged 30-79 years recruited from 10 diverse regions of China in the period 2004-2008. Logistic regr...

Fresh fruit consumption and all-cause and cause-specific mortality: findings from the China Kadoorie Biobank

Background Higher fruit consumption is associated with lower risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD). Substantial uncertainties remain, however, about the associations of fruit consumption with all-cause mortality and mortality from subtypes of CVD and major non-vascular diseases, especially in China. Methods In 2004-08, the nationwide China Kadoorie Biobank Study recruited > 0.5 million adults ...

Pregnancy, pregnancy loss, and the risk of cardiovascular disease in Chinese women: findings from the China Kadoorie Biobank

BACKGROUND Pregnancy and pregnancy loss may be linked to cardiovascular disease (CVD). However, the evidence is still inconsistent, especially in East Asians, whose reproductive patterns differ importantly from those in the West. We examined the associations of pregnancy, miscarriage, induced abortion, and stillbirth with CVD incidence among Chinese women. METHODS In 2004-2008, the nationwide...

Effect of total, domain-specific, and intensity-specific physical activity on all-cause and cardiovascular mortality among hypertensive adults in China

OBJECTIVES We aimed to prospectively examine the associations of total, domain-specific, and intensity-specific physical activity with all-cause and cardiovascular mortality among Chinese hypertensive adults. METHODS We performed a prospective cohort study in 150 391 hypertensive participants aged 30-79 years from the China Kadoorie Biobank study of 512 891 participants recruited from 10 dive...
